Claudia has been teaching me Italian over the last term and her patience and the manner of her teaching has helped me immensely in my desire to become fluent in the language. Her lessons are good fun and very enjoyable - I can heartily recommend them.

A very enjoyable week of learning Spanish in a small group. I was able to speak more Spanish than I have done in previous classes which was very encouraging. The course included lunches and afternoon activities with other language students in a very friendly environment.

A fantastic week! Maria is always great as teacher, but she'd also organised superb food plus fascinating extra activities. Fellow students were an added bonus to the enjoyment! Excellent, already looking forward to next year.

I have had one to one lessons with Maria weekly for nearly 18 months. The lessons are organised and focused and I am making progress. Maria is an excellent teacher and able to be flexible when there are aspects of the language that I am finding particularly challenging. We try and speak in Spanish all the time but the fact that she is also completely fluent in English (native speaker standard) is also a bonus when it comes to explaining things. Maria is also very pleasant and makes the lessons fun. I can recommend Maria and the language school.

Maria is a great teacher - very knowledgeable, patient and engaging. She runs a variety of classes (from 1:1 to group sessions) in various languages. I would highly recommend.

I always enjoy Spanish lessons with Maria; she is well prepared with good supporting materials and strong academic structure and content, so that I know that I am learning as well as having fun. For example this morning I arrived confused about how and when to use the four different Spanish past tenses and she explained them to me so that I now understand - I think.

My daughter loves her Spanish lessons with Maria. I never have to prompt her to do her work set and she is always smiling after her lesson. A great start to our weekend and I can’t recommend highly enough.

I am currently learning Spanish at the Marlborough School of languages. I was a complete beginner but feel tht I have learned so much already after just 10 lessons. Maria is patient and friendly and makes our lessons interesting, topical and fun. I am looking forward to trying out what I have learned when I go on my next Camino de Santiago in May!

Spanish classes with Maria are my weekly joy! I signed up for lessons so that I could chat with my in-laws, but it's become a lovely social activity, too. Maria is great - warm, enthusiastic and with so much knowledge of the language. It really helps to embed the learning.

She also makes the experience so enjoyable - I love how we gather around her table, drink tea and chat; it feels so relaxed and that makes it much more comfortable to practice our language in front of each other. I genuinely feel so lucky to have found these classes.

I had a wonderful time re-learning Italian with Claudia. She was the perfect teacher for me - patient, understanding of my various issues post stroke, technically excellent and great fun. Gave me great confidence to try and hold my own in conversation next time I’m in Italy. Thank you!

Nazaret surpassed all our expectations. Not only is she a dedicated teacher who really cares for her students but she also has the ability to enthuse her students. Thanks to Nazaret our daughter is totally enamored by the language and culture of Spain and the Hispanic world. Thank you Nazaret and thank you Marlborough School of Languages.

Ignacio (Nacho) provided outstanding tuition, very professional but most of all very friendly and understanding. I learnt a lot about tenses, which I hope to put into practice.

OK, so it's taken me ages to get round to writing this review AND I've written reams, BUT I'll make it worth your time to read :).

This is a fantastic place to learn a language - I have been going to lessons with Sophie for French for a few years now and I can say that my facility with the language has come on leaps and bounds. As an older student with some prior experience I was never after a standard lesson learning grammar etc (although should you want this then Sophie can absolutely do this). I was after learning French idioms and learning how to speak in a more natural way. Sophie was able to adapt to this request easily and we have such a great time with me trying to talk on any number of subjects in a much more conversational style - and making some truly exceptional gaffes to boot. Sophie has provided many links to interesting topics, photocopies of French magazines and papers, and even sending me occasional idiomatic phrases by text as they occur to her.

Short of actually living in the country, I cannot think of a better way to learn a language. I don't think I'll ever pass for French :), but I do feel far more confident in both listening and speaking since attending lessons. And I feel I continue to learn all the time. Can't recommend the school, and Sophie in particular, enough. If you truly want to learn, call them. You will not regret it. I can keep up with some of the French series, films and radio without being completely lost now :).

As a final note I should also add that Sophie has managed to keep the lessons going over Zoom for the duration of the lockdowns, and although I do prefer actually being there in person, Sophie is very skilled at making you feel right at home on Zoom. She uses the online tools well, using them to enhance the lessons with whiteboards and slide sharing etc. To anyone who does worry about this style of teaching, I would urge you to give it a go - Sophie is a whizz at putting you at your ease. You will have a really good time and come out of each lesson with a real sense of accomplishment.

I highly recommend Marlborough School of Languages. My son really enjoys learning French with Sophie, the lessons have increased his confidence and Sophie’s fun and engaging teaching style is very effective.

I have been having French lessons with Madame Sophie for over a year now, from the start of my GCSEs. We studied grammar in-depth , which helped me to gain an interesting understanding of the roots of the language, and allowed me to improve my all-round French greatly. We always communicate in French which helps with my pronunciation and listening skills, and prepares me speak abroad with confidence. I would highly recommend Sophie's course to anyone wanting to improve their French, whether at school level or as an adult, she is a delightful teacher and I always look forward to her lessons. Fantastic teaching at this wonderful school of languages. My son has been having French lessons with Sophie and it has transformed his love of the language and has improved his proficiency no end. He absolutely loves the lessons, even now they are on Skype, and is so looking forward to going back to having face to face lessons in September. Sophie makes the learning fun and engaging & really knows how to harness a teenager’s natural curiosity and love of learning while covering & embedding all aspects of the modern foreign language curriculum.
